I have been so inspired by all the happenings at PTI that I ended up creating several cards, with a more masculine theme. That and I had a lot of extra tissue paper sitting in my craft space, so I took the opportunity to use up a piece of tissue paper and perfect a technique..... Anyway, here are some more fun cards, based off one of the sketches provided by PTI, which you can find in this post. Be prepared, it's a long post, and WELL WORTH IT. Okay, okay, so the real reason you stopped by:
Yummo right? I am in love with this technique, the simple texture that it gives, and a nice elegant feel to rugged cards. Love. In case you are wondering, all of the stamping was done using the Masculine Motifs stamp set from Papertrey Ink, I LOVE that set. Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies: Stampin' Up! Soft Suede, Bazzill (Cardstock); Stampin' Up Old Olive, Stampin' Up! Pacific Point, Stampin' Up! Baked Brown Sugar, Stampin' Up! Always Artichoke, Versafine Archival Ink (Ink); Papertrey Ink Masculine Motifs (Stamps)

9{11} 2009
Recently I participated in a challenge at one of my scrapbook forums Scrapjazz.com - this month's Use It Up Challenge included the following:
I took this opportunity to begin working on an album that will contain all the letters, photos, and ephemera that was collected by myself and my husband while he was deployed - this is the first page of that album. And this is what my finished product looks like:
I cannot tell you how much fun I had making this layout. This has been a project that I have been dreading to start for a while just because of a lack of direction in how to do it! But this challenge and the new technique that I tried had really inspired me to get a leg up on this long awaiting project.
The background of this layout was done using clear glue, reinkers, and a transparency. This is generally a technique that is done in cardmaking and is known as the Acetate and Tissue Paper technique. You can find a tutorial for it here. It was such a fun technique and definitely made using my transparencies more appealing and fun. The technique generally only uses one color of reinker, but I used two to create more of a mixed and distressed look. Before I did the technique, I stamped the underlying cardstock using a glass to make watermarks. I did the same thing for my journaling card.
Here are some closeups of some of the details:
Thanks for stopping in today and have a happy crafty creativity inspired day!

Monster Jam Infamy, Gravedigger
If you have been following my posts lately, you will have noticed a theme involving travel vacations and Monster Truck Rally photos. Today is no exception to that rule, I will be sharing a Monster Truck Rally layout {GASP}. This one is also special, just like the Truckasaurus one, but not for the same reason. The layout I am about to share is special because it deals with my love's favorite part of the Monster Truck Rally, Gravedigger. Gravedigger is always by far the coolest truck of them all, he breaks the rules, and his truck quite often. Both of which equal a good night. So, here is the layout:
I used a 2 photo sketch from Creative Scrappers, and the specific sketch is Sketch 219 (clicking on the two previous words will take you right to it). When I saw this sketch I almost passed it by, until i remembered my Tim Holtz gears die, which has only been used once (eek!) when I tried it out on scraps just for fun....... I bought it for a purpose I promise, the purpose was a manly one, and TADA Gears Die to the rescue! I thought that gears would be the perfect addition to this sketch and the monster struck photos, right along with my version of Gravedigger. If you are curious where I got that cute little guy from, you can find it at Designs on Cloud 9, the name of the file is Monster Trucks. The other awesome thing about this die - the graveyard die cut. I bought that graveyard die almost 3 years ago, shortly after me and my hubby got married. I am again ashamed to say, first time I have ever used it, but the wait was well worth it. When I showed this finished bad boy to my hubby all he could say was "That's Awesome Babe!" (He really was excited, promise.) He then proceeded to tell me his favorite part of the whole thing was "that awesome graveyard" (score for me).
I hope you enjoyed today's share and feel inspired. Have a fun crafty inspired day!
Supplies: Stampin' Up! Well Worn (Retired) (Pattern Paper); Bazzill (Cardstock); Stampin' Up! Cajun Craze, Stampin' Up! Lucky Limeade, Tim Holtz Distress Black Soot, Stampin' Up! Marker Basic Black (Ink); Paper Accents (Tag); Designs on Cloud 9 Monster Trucks File (Paper Peicing); Spellbinders Grand Labels, Spellbinders Graveyard, Tim Holtz Alterations Gears (Diecuts); SEI, Doodlebug (Letter Stickers)

MAS Sketch Challenge
Real quick post today. Recently, Mini Album Scraps posted a new sketch challenge. The posted sketch can be found here. If you wanna play along, please come and join me at Mini Album Scraps. And this is my interpretation:
I have been working on doing some mix and matching of patterned papers to stretch my own skill really. And this was my first attempt. I must say that doing masculine layouts is hard - given the nature of scrapbooking being more female dominated..... and then adding mixing and matching...... I came to the conclusion that I needed more scrapbook paper! in a masculine theme of course! That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by!
Supplies: Pattern Paper (Basic Grey; DCWV); Cardstock (Bazzill, Recollections); Dies (Spellbinders)

Man vs. S'mores
Last summer for my husband's birthday and our anniversary, we went out to my families cabin. I had been dying to have some s'mores, and spent the whole week previously talking about how I was dying to have them. The whole time, I could not understand how my dear husband was not excited about s'mores. Well, once we got to the cabin and started the fire he started our conversation with "I have a confession to make." At that point, I was thinking "what is he going to drop on me?" To which he stated "I've never had a s'more." I was floored! He had no idea what a s'more was, how to make one, nothing. And being the scrapbooker I am, I had two thoughts 1) this was a momentous moment in our marriage, I mean seriously, how did he get to 29 years old and not have a s'more and 2) this is totally photo worthy. And here is what I came up with:
The first Marshmallow that my loved one "roasted" he more like crispified, and then he lit it on fire and flung it as far as he could, you know, Denis the Menace style. I thought it would be fun to reflect this in the layout so I ran the edge of the smaller mallows through my Versamark and then dipped in some Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Black Soot. It gave it that perfect crispy look that toasted mallows get. For the title, I used some Foam sticker letters from Pink Paislee in brown and white. The white ones I then colored with two different shades of ink to get the gradient effect. I did this with the marshmallows as well.
On a related note, if you are in the market for some really good outdoor/camping/hiking themed papers, I suggest you run to your nearest Michaels and get the SEI Outdoor Adventures paper pack. I love it. That s'mores paper that you see on my layout it's from that pack as is the manly plaid. I'm thinking of going and getting another pack.......
Supplies: Sketch (PageMaps); Cardstock (Stampin' Up!, Bazzill); Patterned Paper (SEI Outdoor Adventures); Ink (Stampin' Up!); Alphabet (Pink Paislee); Tools (EK Success, Fiskars); Other (Tim Holtz/ Ranger Distress Embossing Powder)

A Masculine Birthday
It is December, which means, another birthday! My oldest brother is turning well, lets just say, he's one year wiser at the beginning of this month. And just like any other paper crafter, I always make my cards - I mean, why buy them, when you can make something just as pretty? Besides, it gives me an excuse to play with all my crafty goodness. On this card, I wanted to try a technique I recently saw, but can't remember where and can't find it now..... Either way, the individual stamped on a PTI Canvas and Linen Impression plate before placing the image on her card to give it a worn look. It looked absolutely beautiful! I used the current sketch (#246) from Card Positioning System. Here is a close up of how it looks on my card:
Is it not just yummy? The best part is that this technique goes fabulously with boy-related projects because of the subtle worn and tattered look it gives. I just love it, and will definitely be adding this to my "man crafting arsenal." And here is another close up just for fun:
Last: Let me appologize for the long delays between posts at the moment. But I am on a 6-week vacation in Washington at the moment and have limited access to my crafting supplies as I was limited in what I could bring and left much at home.... regardless, I am enjoying my break and holidays!
Thanks for stopping by!
